Innovation Services

GTechPlasma supports companies and research partners in developing customised graphene-based solutions, from early-stage material selection and formulation to application testing, optimisation and preparation for industrial scale-up. Our innovation services combine plasma technology, materials expertise and collaborative R&D to accelerate the development of high-performance products.

Customers can start with small material batches for evaluation, prototyping and qualification before progressing towards larger-volume production. This enables material properties, formulation, processing and application performance to be validated before industrial scale-up.

  • Custom graphene and nanomaterial development

  • Application-focused R&D and prototyping

  • Material formulation, testing and optimisation

  • Technology transfer and industrialisation support

  • Certification, qualification and co-development services

For applications such as conductive inks, coatings and polymer composites, selecting graphene involves more than choosing a purity grade. Electrical performance can depend on graphene properties, concentration, dispersion, binder or matrix compatibility and processing conditions. GTechPlasma works with customers on material selection, formulation, testing and optimisation to meet application-specific performance requirements.

About GTechPlasma

GTechPlasma was created as a spin-off from Instituto Superior Técnico (IST) from a simple but ambitious idea:

Graphene can only fulfil its potential when it is produced with the quality, consistency and flexibility required by real-world applications. Many commercial materials still fall short in purity and reproducibility, limiting their use in demanding industries. Our team set out to solve that challenge through plasma science.

Built on years of research in plasma physics and advanced materials in the labs of the university, GTechPlasma has developed a patented, single-step production platform capable of creating customised graphene-based materials with up to 99% purity. Our process is designed to avoid catalysts, harsh chemicals, vacuum and high-pressure conditions, while allowing material properties to be tailored for specific customer requirements.

Our multidisciplinary team brings together experienced plasma and materials physicists, engineering specialists, technology-transfer professionals and business specialists. The technology is supported by an international intellectual-property portfolio covering production equipment, processes and nanocomposite routes across Portugal, Europe, the United States and Japan.

Today, we work with partners to develop graphene solutions for both civilian and defence markets. Our focus includes conductive inks, coatings, sensors, membranes, energy storage, hydrogen technologies, advanced composites and electromagnetic shielding. By combining scientific expertise with application-led development, we help organisations move from material discovery to testing, qualification and industrial integration.

GTechPlasma is not simply producing graphene. We are building a platform for the next generation of high-performance, dual-use materials.
